Accounting was traditionally a male dominated field, but more and more women are realising that this is an occupation that challenges and provides good job satisfaction. It works well for the career women and fits into the lifestyle of women who want both a career and a family.
TaxAssist Accountants want you to know that we support women in our field. We have a team of strong, independent business women who mentor our female franchisees to make the most of the opportunity to own their own successful business.
As part of International Women’s Day we would like to introduce our support team covering QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC:
Celeste Godwin heads the team with her skills in Accounting. Celeste has been working in the industry for more than 20 years and has been a Tax Agent for over 10 of those years. In that time, Celeste has not only run the Forster office, but has used her skills to help with the growth of TaxAssist Accountants Australia. This makes her the perfect person to head the mentor program, encouraging and supporting women get in to field and run their own business.
Working in a public practice during this time, she has seen and overcome many challenges that are part of running a business and fast-growing office. Celeste keeps her focus on being positive and showing professionalism, in what can still see to be a man’s field of expertise!
Tania Jakob has been a business owner before joining the TaxAssist Accountants team. She has more than 20 years’ experience working in office administration and brings to the mentor team a high standard of ‘good old fashioned’ customer service knowledge.
Tania is competent in the TaxAssist system. She is very organised in systems, personnel and has a desire to get the job done. Tania is an asset to the mentoring team providing support, encouragement and knowledge to the franchisees, as she believes all problems can be solved just by thinking logically and following procedures and systems, as she has always been a problem solver.
The third senior member of the TaxAssist Accountants Mentor Team is Barbara Halloran. She has extensive knowledge of procedures and methods, having written procedure manuals for varied business applications, as well as developing checklists that improve the efficiency and accuracy within businesses.
Barbara has a solid business background having worked in fundraising, functions co-ordination, sales, promotions and management and has been a small business owner. Value adding is an important item in all businesses and Barbara encourages franchisees to look at the many ways they can upsell to their clients, in turn increasing business income and success.
We also have Debbie Foxley, who has more than 36 years’ experience working with different accounting firms, with roles ranging from reception, administration, payroll, taxation, accounting and auditing. Debbie prides herself on developing a close relationship with her clients, staff and peers.
Debbie’s country upbringing and her years of working within accounting firms from big to small, has given her the knowledge of “nothing is impossible”. Debbie lives by this moto and helps others to realise their true potential. Debbie’s background is why she is part of the Technical Support Team, for not only system compliance, but support with audit compliance.
The junior members of the TaxAssist Accountants Mentor Team are Maddie Clarke, Peta Curran and Olivia Wood. They all bring fresh, young views to the accounting industry. Young minds and eyes are so inspiring to those of us with years of experience. They are a ‘breath of fresh air’ – are fun, likeable and inspiring members of the team.
A TaxAssist Accountants franchisee is not alone, the mentor team support and encourage you every step of the way.
