TaxAssist Accountants now an approved host company for internship program

TaxAssist franchisees can now benefit from a partnership program with the Australian Technical Management College.

Mandy Sigaloff, Managing Director of TaxAssist Accountants, has recently finalised an Internship partnership program with the Australian Technical Management College (ATMC).

With campuses in Sydney and Melbourne, the colleges have international students who need to undertake an unpaid, 12-week internship, as part of completing their Professional Year Program for Accounting graduates’ course.

Mandy said: “I am delighted that TaxAssist Accountants is now an approved host company and it is a win-win situation for both student and franchisee. All placements meet Fairwork guidelines and workplace liability insurance is covered.

“At any given time, the ATMC usually have around 4-6 accounting students who are actively seeking an unpaid internship. They will screen and shortlist potentially suitable students for a role at a TaxAssist practice, and after viewing a CV and carrying out an interview, our accountants are then free to make their own decision as to whether to take the candidate on.

“The program provides valuable professional experience in an approved Australian workplace and practical learning which focuses on preparing for work, including culture, ethics and expectations.”

The Accounting Professional Year Program (APYP – previously known as SMIPA), is approved by the Department of Home Affairs (DHS) and is available to overseas students with an Australian accounting degree with at least two years of study in Australia. Many of these students have worked in practice either here or overseas before.

With franchisees in Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales, TaxAssist is looking to grow its network further. If you share a passion to help your local small businesses, a TaxAssist franchise can provide the systems and support you need to be successful.

Regular virtual Discovery Sessions are available to attend, where you can find out more about the technical, marketing and business development support on offer to help you to build a substantial practice.

TaxAssist Accountants is currently offering a special ‘Covid Package’ to help get franchisees up and running in what has been a challenging year. It is available in specific areas of Australia, which have been worst hit with the lockdown restrictions.
